I’m starting a small watch business here on Blue Tree Dial, beginning with some cool pieces that I think would be of interest to all watch enthusiasts, even if you aren’t looking to buy. My goal is to simply find “cool stuff” that people will gravitate towards. I don’t believe in hard sells or anything like that. I think the products should stand on their own and people will naturally want something that interests them. I will try to release small batches of watches I acquire over time, maybe one or two batches a month, and we will hopefully grow from there. I hope to start a newsletter soon, but will update releases on this site and my Instagram. Seiko 6105-6119 “Captain Willard”

A beautiful example dated by serial number to August of 1976, just turned 50 years old. This is the iconic “Captain Willard” model that was worn by Martin Sheen’s character in Apocalypse Now (1979). It has replacement dial and hands but they look cohesive and period correct with rest of watch, which is all original. This includes original movement, bezel, bezel insert, locking crown, and case. The 6105 movement is in proper working order and runs well. The case appears unpolished and has honest wear for its age. Comes on a vintage style black tropic strap. Overall strong looking and iconic Seiko model that would look great on most wrists (wears smaller than dimensions indicate).

Seiko 6139-6012 “Bruce Lee”

A strong example of an iconic watch. This is the “Bruce Lee,” made famous as preferred style of watch worn by Bruce Lee in the 1970s. There are numerous variants of this style but this one with a black dial and silverish sub-dial is one of the most coveted. The hands have been replaced but the rest of the watch is entirely original and looks great for its age (dated September of 1971 via serial number). The case still retains brushed lugs and does not appear to have been overly polished at any point. The 6139 movement runs well and chronograph function is working properly. It comes on rally style strap. Overall this would look good on most wrists and has fairly perfect dimensions for a chronograph.

Seiko Lord Matic 5606-7260

Lovely example of a vintage Seiko Lord Matic that is dated by serial number to September of 1973. Has a stunning blue dial that contains unique pattern. The case shows honest wear for a watch of this vintage, and is not overly polished like many similar examples. It presents well on wrist. The Lord Matic line was a higher tier line that sat just below King and Grand Seiko models of the era. In fact, the 5606 movement used in this watch was made at the famous Suwa factory and also used in certain Grand Seiko models of the time. The watch is running great for its age. Comes on tan canvas strap. This watch has lasted decades and will undoubtedly last decades more.

Seiko Giugiaro SCED059

This is a unique watch that was made in various limited editions around 2016-2017. This specific green and black version was limited to 1000 and this example is individually numbered as 37 of 1000. It was a collaboration between Seiko and famed designed Giorgetto Giugiaro (who also designed the iconic “Ripley” Seiko watch). Features steel integrated bracelet and case. Has a very solid and luxury feel. Condition is extremely good and quartz movement runs perfectly. The bracelet is sized but extra links included. Included in generic Seiko box. Overall a very eye catching modern design and hard to find example.
